Equine Massage Therapy
Massage is a well practised treatment that stimulates and improves circulation, helps repair tissue, ease stiffness and relieve fatigue. A regular massage routine can help the horse to relieve stress and tension and by increasing blood flow it can help promote drainage of toxins from muscles allowing the horse to work for longer periods of time as well as helping the horse to recover after heavy exercise or competition. This can enhance the horse’s range of movement and therefore maximise performance. Massage is a holistic treatment and will benefit the horse both physically and psychologically.
If your horse is showing any of the following symptoms, massage therapy may be beneficial:
- Unexplained changes in behaviour
- Stiffness through the back, neck or on one rein
- Refusing fences, continually jumping to one side
- Resistance to tacking up/ rugging or mounting
- Favouring one canter lead, disunited strides
- Bucking, napping, rearing
- Throwing head during transitions
If you have any questions or would like to discuss your horse please get in touch.
